Over the last month or so, Madman Entertainment have been asking their fans to vote for their favourite anime releases from the company (Along with other releases which due to their diversity, most likely won’t make it into this top 20) and giving away on-the-spot prizes to those who provided interesting vote justifications. The intention of this is to generate what fans would consider the companies Top 20 series releases.
As we now head towards the Top 5 anime titles which will be revealed from next week, we still have the final announcement for the week which comes in at #6. Alongside #8 – Bleach and #7 – Cowboy Bebop, #6 is not a series I am too familiar with, Code Geass. As will still have a number of very popular franchises to go such as Naruto, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and so forth, it will be interesting to see who can stand as the victor in the Top 5!
Madman on this title:
CODE GEASS deals with complex themes of imperialism and rebellion and the sticky subject of Japan being annexed by Britannia. It’s heavy stuff. Lelouch is the lynchpin, as Ricky Dodd commented: “He’s a bright student that applies himself in all the wrong areas. To him, the entire world is just a chessboard. He moves each piece elegantly in a strategic battle of wits. Lelouch teaches that when unfairness rises, or when somebody higher up troubles you, you can rebel. One person can destroy the world and, in turn, make it anew.”
There’s plenty of giant mecha action too, which never goes astray! CODE GEASS owns #6 position of the poll.
