Siren Visual to Release When They Cry Complete Collection in April

-

Siren Visual to Release When They Cry Complete Collection in April 1Last year, Siren Visual picked up the license to When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni), a series that was originally dubbed by Geneon Entertainment in North America when they were still distributing it. In December, Siren Visual also announced that this March they would be releasing the first of two volumes of the sequel series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai which I believe is their third or fourth Australian anime exclusive release (Welcome to Irabu’s Office, Dennou Coil and now Higurashi Kai).

For those who have not checked out the first season yet and can’t find the individual volume releases then do not fret… Siren Visual have announced on their official website that beginning on the 19th April 2012, you will be able to pick up the complete 26-episode first series in stores for a price of $79.95.

On a hot summer day in 1983, a transfer student named Maebara Keiichi comes to a peaceful rural village in Hinamizawa. There he befriends his classmates Rena, Mion, Rika, and Satoko. Just as Keiichi is beginning to assimilate into simple rural life, he stumbles upon the dark history of Hinamizawa – every year for the past four years, one person has been murdered and another has gone missing on the day of the Watanagashi Festival. When They Cry is an unnerving story of rural folklore and small-town psychosis steeped in brutal violence and horrific sadism. Cute and funny one minute, sinister and twisted the next, When they Cry broods with a unique psychological malaise.
