Following their limited season of The Pirates of Penzance (★★★★☆) at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) last month, Harvest Rain Theatre Company are set to launch their Incubator Season next week on Thursday April 30, 2015.
To be run until June 7th, this season will see three very different shows (Connect Four, Xanadu and 35MM) performed at their Hayward Street Studios. All three shows will be presented by independent local artists in conjunction with Harvest Rain, with an overall goal of “developing new work, emerging talent and daring theatrical experiences”. The event is being curated by Catarina Hebbard, with all three being run for limited (approximately) week long seasons.
The first of these shows, Connect Four, is set to run from April 30th 2015 until May 2nd 2015, with a total of three shows being performed. Following recent seasons at the Metro Arts and The Arts Centre Gold Coast, local composer Alanya Bridge will be bringing her original musical back to Brisbane for this season. The stage musical follows the lives of seven Australians whose lives intersect, as the choices they make impact not only on their lives but the lives of those around them.
Connect Four has been directed by Danielle Carney, with David Lawrence serving as designer and Joel Nicholas Curtis as music director. The main cast consists of: Rex J Ablett, Vivien Emsworth, David Irvine, Danny Lazar, Ashleigh Stove, Chloe-Rose Taylor, and Jonathan Whitlow.
