While they plan to announce the complete Australian cast of Matilda the Musical next month, including the four young actresses who will be playing the titular character, four princpal cast members have recently been announced.
In alphabetical (surname) order, these announced cast members include:
- Marika Aubrey as Mrs Wormwood
- Daniel Frederiksen as Mr Wormwood
- Elise McCann as Miss Honey
- James Millar as Miss Trunchbull
Following the casting decisions made in both the UK and US performances of Matilda the Musical, a male has been cast as Miss Trunchbull while the genders of other cast members remain the same as their character counterpart.
Matilda the Musical is set to begin at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from August 2015, with preview events starting in late-July 2015. Currently no other venues in Australia have been confirmed, but it should only be a matter of time until runs in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide etc are (hopefully) confirmed.
