When I woke this morning, I found my Twitter and personal Facebook feeds inundated with one news story in particular – the Studio Ghibli was purportedly shutting down or at least ceasing the production of their animated masterpieces. After another recent supposed translation which indicated that Hayao Miyazaki wasn’t actually retiring, which turned out to be a mistranslation, I personally took scepticism to the claims about Studio Ghibli. Turned out that my decision not to hit the panic button was justified.
Rather than regurgitate what Kotaku have masterfully written up, I highly recommend taking a read through their article “Studio Ghibli is Not Dead Yet” for further clarification on the discussion.
So let’s not panic… for now.
