To date we have only really seen Ubisoft Montpelier use the UbiArt Framework for their Rayman console games (Rayman Origins / Rayman Legends). At the end of next month we will see a brand new franchise from Ubisoft Montreal enter the market doing something different with the engine, the platforming RPG Child of Light.
Child of Light is a reimagining of classic fairytales, inviting players on an adventure into the magical painted world of Lemuria. Players will uncover mysteries, participate in turn-by-turn combat inspired by classic JRPGs, and explore a mystical kingdom. The game puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the Queen of the Night. Helped by her companion Igniculus the firefly and several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears, including dragons and other mystical creatures, in this modern take on a coming-of-age story.
Ubisoft have this afternoon shared the above trailer for the game, providing viewers with a three and a half minute look into what is shaping up to be quite a promising game… and certainly different from what we have come to expect from Ubisoft Montreal given their many mainstream video game franchises (Watch_Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 3 etc.)
