Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland was the first installment in the Alchemists of Arland franchise as well as being the first installment in the Atelier series to be released on the Playstation 3. Unlike future installments there were a number of mechanics and visual differences that separated Atelier Rorona and when it come to the “Plus” Playstation Vita ports it was skipped over in favor of Atelier Totori Plus and Atelier Meruru Plus.
Instead Gust have chosen to work on a whole new remake of Atelier Rorona under the title New Atelier Rorona: The Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland. This title is set for release on the 21st November 2013 in Japan for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita, with no word on any international release plans.
While there is no word on if (my personal favorite character) Astrid will finally be making her debut as a playable character, confirmation has been received that both Totori and Meruru who Rorona meets in the future will be making an appearance in an additional scenario. The two alchemists go through the space time continuum and travel back in time to see Rorona. Unaware of who either of the girls are, she helps them in their search for an item that will allow them to return home. Both of them will be playable characters during this chapter as you will see below, with new dialogue, additional dungeon(s), events and more.
The screenshots below highlight this chapter as well as returning playable characters chef Iksel Jahnn, musician Tantris and travelling performer Lionela Heinze and her two talking / moving puppets Aranya and Horoholo.
