The Music of Hans Zimmer vs John Williams is heading around Australia next year. The concert will visit Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth in 2027, before returning to Melbourne for encore performances in September. Tickets are on sale now for Brisbane and Sydney.
Presented by John Foreman’s Australian Pops Orchestra and Sony Music Australia, the concert features the 64-piece Australian Pops Orchestra performing music from the two composers’ film scores, including Star Wars, Gladiator, Harry Potter, E.T., Interstellar, Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean. John Foreman hosts and conducts, and the show is designed to be family-friendly and suitable for all ages.
The concert also plays up a friendly rivalry between the two composers, with on-stage banter encouraging audiences to pick a side and back either Zimmer or Williams. The production is part of the Australian Pops Orchestra’s aim of making live orchestral music more accessible, removing some of the formality often associated with orchestral concerts so that both regular concertgoers and newcomers can enjoy it. The show has also sold out performances in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
John Foreman spoke about the response to the Melbourne shows and what audiences can expect from the national tour.
I’m absolutely thrilled that the Australian Pops Orchestra is bringing this extraordinary concert to Australian audiences, and especially excited to partner with Sony Music Australia. The response to Melbourne’s sold-out performances earlier this year was incredible, so we’re delighted to be able to expand to a national tour in 2027 and bring this spectacular experience to audiences in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and an encore run in Melbourne.
This is more than a concert, it’s a chance for audiences to relive the soundtracks of their lives. The music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams has shaped some of the most unforgettable moments in film, and to hear these scores performed live, at this scale and accompanied by spectacular lighting, is something truly powerful. Audiences will be completely immersed in the emotion, the nostalgia and the sheer energy of it all.
