Walküre is back. The Tactical Sound Unit from Macross Δ have announced a new single ‘Walküre wa Makerarenai’ to mark the 10th anniversary of the TV anime. The announcement was made during the SHOWROOM live stream ‘Macross Δ 10th Anniversary! Macross ga Tomaranai Special’ and the single will be released on 24th March 2027.
It marks a return for the group, whose activities were paused after the arena tour FINAL LIVE TOUR 2023 Last Mission, which ran for six shows. The group consists of MikumoΔJUNNA, FreyjaΔSuzuki Minori, KanameΔKiyono Yasuno, ReinaΔNao Toyama, and MakinaΔNozomi Nishida.
The single will be available in a first press and a standard edition, both with four tracks. The title track “Walküre wa Makerarenai” is classic kayō. “No Limit! No Brake!” is a club track and represents a new direction for the group. “Ka·i·ka·n” is a Showa pop/techno mash-up and “Ikenai Borderline ~Perfect 5 Mix~” is a re-recording of the group’s signature song with strings, all five members performing it. All four tracks were made for a new audio drama.
The audio drama ‘Kyousou no Walküre’ is on disc 2 of the first press edition. Written by series writer Toshizo Nemoto, it follows the five members as they compete to promote the new MVF (Micro Variable Fighter), each using their own strengths. The cast includes Minori Suzuki as Freyja, Ami Koshimizu as Mikumo, Kiyono Yasuno as Kaname, Nozomi Nishida as Makina, and Nao Toyama as Reina, with Yuuma Uchida as Hayate, Asami Seto as Mirage, Shinji Kawada as Chuck, KENN as Bogue, and Toshiyuki Morikawa as Arad.
