A Melbourne solo developer’s game about cleaning up old video games is almost ready for release. Cozy Game Restoration, from Parasol Corp, launches on Windows and Mac via Steam on 4 November 2026, priced at $14.99 USD or local equivalent. The game has been developed independently by Melbourne-based Adam Stormhardt and is self-published.
Cozy Game Restoration is all about bringing neglected games back to life. Players carefully remove dust, grime, stickers, scratches and sticky residue from a growing library of more than 200 game variants, with more to be added over time. The games are inspired by titles from the 1980s through to the early 2000s, celebrating physical collections, second-hand finds and gaming history.
New finds arrive in mystery parcels, with games turning up in different conditions and with varying artwork, rarities and regional versions. The collection spans six retro-inspired platforms and 108 distinct games, each available in PAL and NTSC versions, across five rarity levels. Some games even come with notes left behind by their previous owners.
There are 300 quests at launch, including collection and cleaning challenges that unlock decorations and furniture, allowing players to gradually turn their workspace into a tribute to retro gaming.
Most of the games in the collection are fictional, but Cozy Game Restoration also includes collaborations with real indie titles Abiotic Factor and CONSCRIPT, with more partnerships still to be announced. Players can also look out for hidden secrets and Easter eggs, including a game inspired by Grand Theft Auto that celebrates GTA 6, and cartridges inspired by The Legend of Zelda that mark the remake of Ocarina of Time.
