A cursed immortal named Fenrix will get his chance to take on the archdemon Asmodeus early next year. LINE Games has announced that Ember and Blade, its dark fantasy roguelite action RPG, will launch in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store on 8 January 2027. The date was revealed in a new trailer (viewable to the left) shown during the Galaxies Showcase, which offers another look at Fenrix fighting his way through the demon hordes that stand between him and Asmodeus.
Fenrix is a cursed immortal caught in a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth. Players guide him down into the depths of oblivion to stop Asmodeus from rising, with each run offering new ways to turn his curse into a source of power. Builds come together through a reworked arsenal of weapons, angelic Blessings linked to attacks, and Runes and Arcana that stack up to create increasingly powerful combinations.
The Early Access date follows the release of Demo 2.0, a major update that overhauled the game’s combat. Light and heavy attacks can now be chained into combos, supported by a reworked action and stamina system designed to keep fights moving. The Sword and Hammer have both been fully reworked, and they are joined by a brand-new weapon, the Shotgun.
Blessings have also changed. Their powers can now be linked directly to light attacks, heavy attacks and dashes, allowing their effects to trigger in combat without using stamina. Completing Blessing Link Sets unlocks extra bonuses, while newly added Arcana cards open up further options for building Fenrix.
Enemies have been reworked too, with improved reactions and environmental interactions, a new Break state and redesigned Elite battles. The update also brings expanded control options, better visibility and an overhauled Elevator. Between runs, players can take a break in the Sanctuary, which now changes with the time of day and is home to a group of marimos.
Demo 2.0 is available to play now, ahead of Ember and Blade’s Early Access launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store on 8 January 2027.
