Way of the Hunter 2 has left Early Access and is now available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Now officially launched as part of a Version 1.0 release, the hunting simulation from Nine Rocks Games and publisher THQ Nordic arrives after six months of Early Access on PC. THQ Nordic says that period allowed the developers to incorporate player feedback and expand the game’s features ahead of its full launch
Players can explore two hunting grounds: New Laurentia in North America and the African Kilimaya Reserve. Their wildlife ranges from moose, elk and bison to lions, hippos and Nile crocodiles, alongside small game and birds. Two-player co-op allows friends to hunt together, while a dog companion assists with tracking. Thermal night vision and suppressors provide further options for hunting in darkness and taking quieter shots.
Managing the hunting grounds also forms part of the experience. Players can restore habitats, remove pollution and clear invasive species, with those improvements intended to increase the fitness potential of local herds. The equipment selection draws on more than ten real-world partners, including Bergara, Bushnell, Christensen Arms, Leupold, Merkel and ZEISS.
THQ Nordic and Nick Rocks Games plan to continue supporting Way of the Hunter 2 with new biomes, additional species and more equipment over the coming years. Its Season One Season Pass is scheduled to deliver eight DLC releases during the game’s first year.
