CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will launch on 29 September 2026. The date arrived at gamescom Opening Night Live alongside an announcement trailer for the remaster, with the same slot also carrying a teaser offering a first look at Songs of the Past, a new expansion for the game.
The remaster’s trailer laid out a list of changes that extends beyond a visual pass, covering upgrades to visuals, performance and gameplay. Named additions include enhanced combat, improved traversal and movement, new witcher signs effects, revamped mount handling, altered monster behaviours, a reworked skill tree, transmogrification, an expanded photo mode and new finishers.
Platform coverage spans PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, joined by a native Nintendo Switch 2 version, a first for Nintendo’s newest console offering.
The Songs of the Past teaser meanwhile introduced the new region of Letten. It is presented as an idyllic land steeped in rural tradition and folklore, where residents enjoy bountiful harvests and lavish festivals, with a dark secret sitting beneath the surface. Geralt will face never before seen foes as he works to overcome a long-dormant evil. The paid expansion is set for a 2027 launch on all supported platforms.
Development duties on both projects are being shared with outside studios. Songs of the Past is a co-development with Fool’s Theory, whose leadership includes veterans of The Witcher 3. The remaster is being co-developed with Yigsoft, a team that has previously worked on the game.
There is also something available immediately. All current owners of The Witcher 3 gain free access to the game’s original two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, as of today.
