Elementa has officially renamed its upcoming 3D idol game V Project to StarToU, alongside the reveal of a new hip-hop group and the first look at the game’s core gameplay systems. Closed beta testing for StarToU is scheduled to begin in selected regions during the second half of 2026. Global testing is planned for a later date.
The new name reflects the entertainment community platform featured within the game’s setting. Central to the experience is “Echo”, a memory-based interactive medium powered by TOUCH technology that is designed to let players interact with idols and revisit shared memories.
The rebrand was followed by the introduction of MacGuffin on 20 August 2026. The self-producing hip-hop group consists of Tay, Yoora, Lim and Noki, with its concept built around a more rebellious and playful identity than the idol trainees previously shown for the game.
MacGuffin’s first group promotional video presents the four members in streetwear and introduces a more mature visual style. The group joins previously revealed trainees LEE, Near and OCT, expanding the range of idol concepts planned for StarToU.
Elementa has also provided the first details on how StarToU will play. Players will follow branching storylines and relive memories through the game’s TOUCH technology, while rhythm gameplay will form part of performances in a mode called Starlit Stage. Before performances, players will be able to customise their idol lineup, outfits and card sets. Other announced features include Star Journey and TOKI Interaction, which will contribute to the broader idol development and character interaction systems.
Beyond its rhythm elements, StarToU is being developed around group management and interactions with its roster of idol characters. Additional groups and characters are also planned to be introduced in the future.
