Canadian independent studio Borealys Games will launch its spell crafting roguelite Echoes of Mystralia through Steam Early Access on 11 August 2026. Set in the same universe as 2017’s Mages of Mystralia, the game places players in the role of a Watcher responsible for protecting the Cycle of Memories and the world of Mystralia. This task becomes increasingly urgent after a rift emerges with the potential to consume both.
Players will gather objects known as Memories during each journey and use them to create spells incorporating elements such as fire, ice and lightning. The placement of individual components determines how each spell functions, with the system supporting millions of possible combinations.

Between expeditions, players will return to the Azimuth temple, which serves as the game’s central hub. The temple provides opportunities to unlock skills, modify combat strategies and seek guidance from an ancient goddess. Beyond the temple, players will explore three regions while encountering primordial Guardians, unfamiliar Memories and characters affected by Mystralia’s past struggles. Combat is designed around fast movement, tactical decisions and adapting spells to different threats.
The initial Early Access version will include 110 Memories for spell creation, 12 spell forms, three explorable regions and three Guardians to defeat.
