MangaGamer has announced the official release of Rose Guns Days Season 1 via both Steam and their own dedicated store. Developed by 07th Expansion, Rose Guns Days comes from the same creative team behind the When They Cry franchise – Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni and their various arcs and releases.
Rose Guns Days is set within an alternate history timeline following World War II. In this version of events, Japan suffered a massive natural disaster that led to an unconditional surrender to Sino-American forces. The resulting occupation split the country between the two powers, forcing the Japanese people to adapt to a rapidly changing social landscape where they felt like strangers in their own nation. The narrative is framed through the perspective of a 21st-century reporter, Julie Hayashibara. During her investigation into the past, she secures an interview with the powerful and enigmatic Jeanne Amakawa, who holds the keys to the truth regarding the post-war era.
This version of Rose Guns Days includes several features, including:
Multi-Language Support: The game allows players to switch between English, Japanese, and Chinese at any time through the settings menu.
Combat Mini-Games: Interactive segments are included where players must defend against incoming attacks and retaliate. These sequences feature a high-score system, though players who prefer a pure reading experience can toggle an auto-mode to bypass the gameplay elements.
Original Soundtrack: As with previous 07th Expansion releases, Rose Guns Days features contributions from several regular collaborators, including but not limited to dai, M.Zakky, and Luck Ganriki.
