Following the game’s release as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 as a timed exclusive, Square Enix has expanded the availability of Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, releasing the title digitally for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S. This launch includes support for Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to access the game across both console and Windows environments with a single purchase.
Based on the Nintendo 3DS exclusive Bravely Default, this HD remaster brings the turn-based RPG to a broader range of hardware. While the core experience remains intact, this version introduces quality of life updates and various minigames intended to refine the gameplay experience for both returning fans and those new to the world of Luxendarc.
The narrative revisits the journey of four main characters, Agnès Oblige, Tiz Arrior, Edea Lee, and Ringabel, alongside the cryst-fairy Airy. Set in a world where four elemental crystals maintain the balance of peace, the group must work to restore these crystals after darkness emerges from a massive rift known as the Great Chasm. The combat utilises the signature Brave and Default system, a turn-based mechanic where players can choose to Default to build up points while defending, or Brave to spend those points to execute multiple actions in a single turn.
Strategic depth is provided through a job system featuring over 20 unique roles, allowing players to customise their party compositions by mixing and matching different abilities. The remaster also allows players to adjust the speed of turn-based battles to suit their preference.
