Publisher Eastasiasoft has announced that the side-scrolling shoot ’em up Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype Definitive Edition will launch on the Nintendo Switch on 14 May 2026. The title will be available digitally on the Nintendo eShop as a standalone purchase or bundled with the original game in the series, Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer.
Originally developed by SideQuest Studios, the digital version of Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype Definitive Edition will be priced at $14.99 USD or 14.99 Euros. The Complete collection bundle meanwhile will be available for $29.99 USD or 22.99 Euros. Both the individual title and the bundle will receive a 10% launch discount for a limited time.
For those who prefer physical media, online retailer Playasia is accepting pre-orders for physical versions of the Söldner-X Complete Collection, with shipping scheduled to coincide with the digital launch. A physical Limited Edition is available, which includes both games on a single cartridge, a game manual, a three-disc soundtrack, a poster, and a numbered certificate, all housed in a collector’s box. Standard physical editions are also available to pre-order.
The Söldner-X series features 2.5D sci-fi bullet hell action. Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype Definitive Edition includes 10 distinct stages and allows players to choose from three unique ships, each tailored to different play styles. The core gameplay revolves around strategic weapon management, earning power-ups, and defeating large boss enemies.
This definitive release seeks to present players with several features tailored to the current console generation, including high-definition visuals running at 60 frames per second with minimal load times. The game utilizes a dynamic score-linked difficulty system and includes a challenge mode that rewards performance with unlockable bonuses. Additionally, the updated version offers rebalanced difficulty, online scoreboards, a new gallery mode, and a soundtrack featuring 30 original tracks.
