The Art Of Game Music Concert Featuring Troy Baker And Austin Wintory Announced for Game Music Festival

Building upon their offerings for the 2026 Game Music Festival in London, The Game Music Foundation has announced a new concert titled The Art of Game Music with Troy Baker and Austin Wintory. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday 19 June 2026 at Fairfield Halls.

The performance will feature 2026 Grammy award-winning video game composer Austin Wintory conducting the London Mozart Players. The orchestral programme will include a selection of Wintory’s original compositions from soundtracks such as Journey, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, ABZÛ, The Pathless, and Sword of the Sea. It will also feature pieces from other composers that have influenced his career. A central feature of the 90-minute uninterrupted show will be a live demonstration where music is composed and adapted on stage in response to a visual gameplay prompt. VIP ticket holders will also have access to a meet-and-greet session following the performance.

Composer Austin Wintory discussed his approach to game scoring and explained how the upcoming concert will allow the audience to experience the live evolution of music:

For me, writing music for games has always been about empathy, understanding the player’s emotional journey and responding to it moment by moment. What makes this concert so special is that we’re inviting the audience into that process. They won’t just hear themes from Journey or Assassin’s Creed, they’ll see how a score breathes, evolves and reacts in real time. It’s vulnerable, it’s unpredictable, and that’s what makes it thrilling.

Actor Troy Baker shared his thoughts on the ongoing discussions he has with Wintory regarding the power of video game soundtracks and how they intend to translate those discussions to a live setting:

Whether it be in podcast or in person, Austin’s and my conversations always focus on the celebration of videogames, especially as it pertains to music. Trying to unpack what makes it all so powerful. In June, we plan to bring those conversations to the stage.

Meanwhile, Mateus Pawlak from the Game Music Foundation spoke about the underlying goal of the Game Music Festival and the importance of showcasing the creative process of contemporary game composers:

Game Music Festival was created to celebrate video game music as one of the defining art forms of our time. With Austin and Troy, we’re presenting a concert that doesn’t just perform iconic scores, it reveals the creative thinking behind them. This is about recognising game composers as major contemporary artists and inviting audiences to witness their craft up close.

Ticketing information for the concert can be found via the Fairfield Halls Official Website.
