Blizzard Entertainment has officially launched its 30th anniversary celebrations for the Diablo franchise with a spotlight broadcast detailing the roadmap for the year ahead. The event highlighted significant updates for Diablo IV, Diablo Immortal and Diablo II: Resurrected. Central to these announcements is the introduction of the Warlock class which will appear across all three titles in varying forms throughout the year.
Diablo II: Resurrected
Available immediately, Diablo II: Resurrected has received a major content update titled Reign of the Warlock. This release introduces the Warlock class to the game, marking the first new playable character added to the title in over 25 years. This iteration of the class focuses on demon summoning, binding and transformation to control the battlefield.
In addition to the new class, the update implements new endgame challenges. Players can now earn consumables and select which acts are Terrorized to increase difficulty and rewards. Completing Terrorized Act bosses in Hell difficulty offers the chance to acquire mystical statues which can be combined to unlock a battle against a new boss, the Colossal Ancients. The update also includes quality-of-life improvements such as loot filters, advanced stash tabs and a Chronicle system for tracking gameplay legacies.
Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred
The next expansion for Diablo IV, titled Lord of Hatred, is scheduled to launch on 28 April 2026 AEDT. The narrative will take players to the ancient Mediterranean-inspired region of Skovos to confront Mephisto.
This expansion will introduce two new classes to the roster: the Warlock and the Paladin. The Diablo IV version of the Warlock is defined by the use of metal chains and flames. To support endgame progression, the expansion will add “War Plans” which allow for customisable activity paths, and “Echoing Hatred” encounters that feature escalating waves of enemies.
More information regarding the Warlock class in Diablo IV is expected to be shared during a Live Developer Update on 6 March at 6:00 a.m. AEDT via the official Diablo YouTube and Twitch channels.
Diablo Immortal
Blizzard also outlined the 2026 roadmap for Diablo Immortal. The upcoming content includes the return of Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish, and the reintroduction of the city of Lut Gholein. The city will be split into two zones: the chaotic Common Ward and the High Ward.
The Warlock class is scheduled to arrive in Diablo Immortal later in 2026. This version of the character is described as a dark spellcaster using forbidden Vizjerei magic to master demons such as the Soulgorger. The roadmap also indicates new zones, events and IP collaborations are planned throughout the year.
The 30th anniversary events are set to continue leading up to BlizzCon 2026 in September.
