Publisher THQ Nordic has officially announced the release date for the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake. Developed by Alkimia Interactive, the revitalised version of the classic open-world RPG is scheduled to launch on 5 June 2026. The title will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The development team at Alkimia Interactive has reportedly focused their efforts on recreating the specific atmosphere that established the original game as a cult classic 25 years ago. According to the announcement, considerable time has been spent iterating on assets to ensure the “grit” and “camp vibes” of the original are preserved. This includes refining character faces, voice acting performances and the general environmental design to modernize the experience while maintaining the feeling of the unforgiving wilderness found in the source material.
The publisher noted that the project required more iterations than a standard development cycle to ensure the world felt authentic. Consequently, the release was scheduled for mid-year to allow the team to finalize these details rather than rushing to meet an earlier window.
