REMOW Co., Ltd. has released new details regarding the television anime adaptation of the psychological suspense manga LIAR GAME. Produced by animation studio MADHOUSE, the series is officially scheduled to begin broadcasting and streaming in April 2026. Alongside the release window, the company unveiled a teaser trailer and confirmed the primary voice cast and composer for the project.
The series is based on the manga by Shinobu Kaitani, which was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015. The narrative follows Nao Kanzaki, a college student who receives a mysterious invitation accompanied by 100 million yen. This marks her entry into the titular Liar Game, a high-stakes competition where participants must deceive others to win. To navigate this environment, she forms an alliance with Shinichi Akiyama, a former con artist and psychology graduate.
The production team has confirmed that Saya Hitomi will voice the protagonist Nao Kanzaki. Hitomi commented on her emotional reaction to securing the role and her intention to capture the character’s honest nature:
When I heard that I had passed the audition, my mind went completely blank from the shock and joy, and the moment I said, ‘I’ll do my best,’ tears started to pour out. Once recording began, I found myself desperately trying to keep up, and I strongly felt that I wanted to grow just like Nao does. Now, I’m wholeheartedly facing the work with that same ‘foolishly honest’ spirit. Even as she’s tossed around by countless lies, Nao lives with all her heart in her own way—and I’ll give it my all to bring out her charm. Thank you so much for your support!
Opposite Hitomi, Takeo Otsuka has been cast as Shinichi Akiyama. Otsuka noted his existing familiarity with the franchise and his dedication to translating its charm into the anime format:
I was filled with surprise and joy when I learned I’d be involved with LIAR GAME, a series I’ve long been familiar with and fond of. As a member of the anime LIAR GAME team, I will give my all in voicing Akiyama to ensure that the charm of this series is fully conveyed through animation. Thank you very much for your support! (Also… I didn’t manage to see through a single lie on the official anime website!)
Yugo Kanno has also been announced as the composer for the series. He discussed his approach to the score, specifically regarding the challenge of creating a distinct musical identity separate from the well-known live-action adaptation.
