After almost two decades away from their debut project, Phantomery Interactive has announced a remake of Sublustrum, the 2008 psychological art adventure. The new version is being rebuilt with modern technology for PC and consoles (specific platforms have yet to be confirmed), targeting a Fall 2026 release window.
Led by original Creative Director Georgy Beloglazov, the remake aims to preserve the original’s atmosphere while shifting into fully explorable 3D spaces. Phantomery is also promising new mechanics and expanded story details.
Sublustrum follows a writer investigating the disappearance of his scientist brother and the enigma of a device left behind. As the search unfolds, the narrative drifts between reality and dream states, transforming a grounded investigation into a surreal journey through the protagonist’s subconscious.
The world sets out to draw upon Victorian melancholy, looming industrial forms and early 20th century retrofuturism, presenting a setting where science intersects with mysticism and machinery is treated as a vessel for the human soul. Visually, Phantomery cites inspiration from vintage lens optics and film grain textures to emphasise an auteur cinema feel and the fragility of dreamlike imagery.
Expect to hear more about Sublustrum in the coming months.
