Halo Studios lifted the lid on Halo: Campaign Evolved during the Halo World Championship 2025, confirming a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s (Xbox) original campaign that aims to retain the original’s spirit while modernising the experience.
Positioned as a faithful recreation built in Unreal Engine 5, the project promises upgraded visuals and refined controls alongside co-op options. Console players can use two-player split-screen, while online co-op supports up to four players with cross-play and cross-progression enabled.
Beyond visual and control upgrades, the remake adds new content and systems. Three additional missions are planned, an expanded arsenal brings fresh weapons and vehicles, and new enemy types aim to diversify encounters. Tracks will also feature across returning and expanded content in line with the remake’s scope.
Members of the development team, including Executive Producer Damon Conn, Creative Director Max Szlagor, and Game Director Greg Hermann, outlined the announcement and provided an overview of what players can expect. You can watch the full roundtable above.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is slated for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and – arguably most significantly – PlayStation 5. The game supports Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Play Anywhere, and will be available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
