Hidden Memories of the Gardens Between, an expanded virtual-reality adaptation of The Voxel Agents’ puzzler The Gardens Between, is set to launch on Meta Quest and SteamVR next month on 7 August 2025. The release date was announced during the latest Upload VR Showcase.
Set two decades after the events of the original game, Hidden Memories follows Frendt as he discovers a misplaced diary belonging to his childhood friend Arina while packing for yet another move. Opening the diary transports him back to the dreamlike island gardens the pair once explored together. Guided by Arina’s written recollections, players are tasked with manipulating time to solve environmental puzzles that reveal new insights into the duo’s shared past.
Designed specifically for head-mounted displays, this version layers Mixed Reality interactions onto the core time-bending mechanics. Hand-tracked gestures let players sweep a paintbrush across floating canvases, assemble beads into friendship bracelets, and examine nostalgic toys scattered through the landscape. Several brand-new puzzles and island variations have been added, making the experience approachable for newcomers while offering fresh context for returning fans.
Hidden Memories of the Gardens Between will be available as a standalone purchase on both storefronts at launch
