DC Worlds Collide Launches Globally as Free-to-Play Squad-Based RPG

On the prowl for your next smartphone game binge for when you are travelling on the train or just need to get away from the busy-ness of life for a few minutes or hours? Warner Bros. Games has rolled out DC Worlds Collide, a free-to-play, squad-based role-playing game set in the DC universe. Developed by Warner Bros. Games San Francisco, the title invites fans to assemble teams of over 70 iconic DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and engage in strategic 3D turn-based battles. Starting today, players worldwide can download the game on the App Store for iOS, Google Play for Android and Google Play Games for PC.

With over 70 characters available at launch, DC Worlds Collide lets users build teams featuring both DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn appear alongside lesser-known figures, each modelled with updated designs, bespoke abilities and full 3D animations. The core campaign draws on the “Trinity War” and “Forever Evil” storylines: after the Justice League is defeated by the Crime Syndicate, Batman and Catwoman discover a dormant Mother Box capable of summoning both heroes and villains. From there, squads must be assembled and upgraded with Artifacts, Reinforcements and team synergies to push back the invaders.

Outside the main narrative, the game provides a dozen solo and competitive modes. These range from boss encounters in Evil Falls and PvP arenas in Warworld to cooperative League events and daily rotating challenges. In addition, new characters will arrive in coordination with broader DC releases – Superman (DCU) debuts on July 9 to tie in with the live-action film, while Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific and Krypto are scheduled for later this summer.

Vice President and Studio Head Katelynd LaVallee explained that the game is designed to put player choice at the forefront, sharing:

With DC Worlds Collide, we are giving players a mobile experience with the iconic characters and stories fans have come to love in the DC universe,” LaVallee said. “This game puts the power in players’ hands – from assembling custom squads and unleashing powerful moves, to exploring story-driven missions and going head-to-head in PvP battles. There’s something for every kind of player, and we are excited to see their unique character selections, team-builds and strategies.
