During the recent Capcom Showcase livestream, PRAGMATA was up front and center following the recent announcement of a planned 2026 release date. This spotlight included new gameplay footage and story details, among a game that seeks to blend action combat with tactical puzzle elements.
Set in a technologically advanced near-future Earth, PRAGMATA revolves around a discovery called Lunam Ore, which has enabled the creation of Lunafilament – a powerful material capable of replicating just about anything. The sudden loss of contact with a lunar research station studying this resource forms the foundation of the story.
Players will take control of Hugh Williams, a specialist dispatched to investigate the silence from the moon. Things quickly go awry, with Hugh separated from his team following a violent lunar quake. Left injured and unconscious, Hugh is rescued by a mysterious android girl born of Lunafilament technology – whom he dubs “Diana.” Together, the duo must fight their way through hostile bots and environmental hazards in a bid to return to Earth.
Gameplay in PRAGMATA is built around a hybrid of action and puzzle-solving, with combat designed as a cooperative effort between Hugh and Diana. Players can expect a mix of third-person shooting and real-time hacking. Diana provides strategic support through an on-screen hacking panel that appears when aiming at enemies, allowing her to break down enemy defenses and create opportunities for Hugh to strike.
This synergy extends beyond combat. Diana’s hacking talents can also be used to bypass environmental barriers, while Hugh’s suit thrusters offer added mobility for traversing the lunar terrain. Progress relies on both characters working in tandem, encouraging players to think creatively with each character’s unique abilities.
Capcom has also launched the official website for PRAGMATA, which includes a playable “Hacking Minigame” designed to give fans a taste of what to expect from the combat system. The full game is planned for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
