Version 5.7 of Genshin Impact, titled A Space and Time for You, is set to launch on 18 June 2025, bringing with it a host of new content including two new characters, the continuation of the Archon Quest, and gameplay enhancements. The update will mark the long-anticipated playable arrival of Skirk following her story debut at the end of the Fontaine archon questline, an enigmatic figure tied closely to the Abyss, as a playable character.
Skirk, a 5-star Cryo user with Abyssal origins, is known as the mentor of Childe and a former disciple of Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners. Her combat style is unique, allowing players to alternate between enhanced Normal Attacks and a powerful AoE Cryo Elemental Burst, powered not by conventional Elemental Energy but by a distinct resource known as Serpent’s Subtlety. Her talents also provide team-wide benefits when paired with at least one Hydro and one Cryo teammate.
Joining her is Dahlia, a new 4-star Hydro character and the Deacon of the Church of Favonius. Designed as a support unit, Dahlia’s Elemental Burst creates a renewable shield that activates through Normal Attacks or Freeze reactions. His Elemental Skill can boost ATK speed and even launch teammates into the air or deal Hydro damage to enemies.
The update also continues the story of the Traveler and their sibling as the Archon Quest moves forward following the Bedtime Story arc. In this chapter, the Abyss Order begins its operations in Natlan, heightening tensions. Mavuika and other defenders stand ready, while Dainsleif reappears in a new form to assist the Traveler. The storyline promises deeper revelations about the sibling’s plans and the nature of the Abyss.
A new event hosted by the Sumeru Akademiya will offer a simulated adventure game, combining strategy with chance. Players will select Companion Pieces, enhance them, and navigate branching paths themed around rainforest or desert environments. Rewards include Primogems and the opportunity to invite Sethos to join the party.
Version 5.7 also introduces Stygian Onslaught, a permanent combat mode featuring three rotating bosses and six levels of difficulty. Completing these challenges will award players with Artifacts and a new item, Dust of Enlightenment, which allows re-rolling of Level 20 Artifact sub-stat enhancements.
Additional content includes “Travelers’ Tales: Gilded Chapter,” a series of lighter narrative segments featuring characters like Thoma, Neuvillette, and Dori. Players will also see further gameplay optimisations, including expanded resource settings on mobile devices and the ability to use Fragile Resin for tripled rewards in specific domains. New Envisaged Echoes challenges for Raiden Shogun and Shenhe are also being added.
