Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed that it will publish Battle Train, an upcoming deckbuilding roguelite set to release on 18 June 2025 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Co-developed by Terrible Posture Games and Nerd Ninjas LLC, the game fuses traditional deckbuilding strategy with rail-based combat, all framed within the chaotic premise of a fictional global game show.
Battle Train challenges players to compete as contestants in an explosive game show where duelling trains are the primary method of attack. Using a card-based system, players lay down track tiles to generate resources, defend their base, and launch trains loaded with explosives toward their opponents. Each successful round unlocks new cards, customisation options, train upgrades, and progression toward the goal of becoming the Supreme President Conductor.
The game promises fast-paced tactical battles, branching paths, boss encounters, and special events, all delivered in a vibrant, over-the-top presentation. A free demo is currently available via Steam for those interested in an early preview.
Terrible Posture Games, led by industry veteran Joe Mirabello, is known for previous roguelite titles such as Tower of Guns and Mothergunship. Nerd Ninjas, co-developers of Rogue Piñatas: VRmageddon, contributed to the design and development of Battle Train. According to Mirabello, the game is the result of a long-standing creative idea finally brought to life:
Battle Train has been a project we’ve been percolating internally for a long time, always coming back to it. It’s a ridiculous concept that resulted in a magic blend of tactics, fun, and roguelite replayability. The sheer joy of sending an explosive-laden train into your opponent’s base and setting off a cascade of chain reactions is just too good for words. Partnering with Bandai Namco Entertainment America lets us get this title we love so dearly into a much wider audience, not to mention all their help steering this thing to its final destination and helping to bring the game to Nintendo Switch players.
Karim Farghaly, senior vice president of business innovation and licensing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America, also shared his thoughts:
We were on board with Battle Train from the moment we met the creative teams behind it and had a chance to play this unforgettable deckbuilding game. What struck us with Battle Train is its innovations in visual style, narrative backdrop and combination of genres, all of it coming together to create an explosive experience that’s incredibly fun and remains a joy as you play over and over again.
