Pigeons at Play and Devolver Digital have announced Mycopunk, a new first-person co-op shooter, is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access in 2025. A playable demo is now available for download on Steam.
Set in a fungal-infested future, Mycopunk follows the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a group of robot exterminators employed by the universal megacorporation SAXON. Players will undertake missions across a contaminated planet, facing off against a widespread fungal threat that may be more than a simple natural disaster.
Players will be able to wield a diverse range of futuristic weaponry and tools, which can be enhanced through a grid-based upgrade system that allows for a range of customisation options. As they battle the fungal menace, enemies can adapt by scavenging dropped items, adding a strategic layer to combat.
Mypocunk emphasises co-operative play, encouraging players to combine customised weapons and upgraded abilities to create powerful team synergies. Between missions, players can relax aboard an orbital dropship featuring interactive elements and in-game characters, such as the insectoid veteran Roachard Cox, who offers additional story insights.
