With its final episode airing today in Japan, the TV anime adaptation of Tsurumaikada’s manga Medalist has been green lit for a second season. For those who, like myself, have been enjoying the anime weekly for its refreshing enjoyable yet detailed narrative of which 13-episodes was not enough to fully encompass, this will undoubtedly come as a relief given how many series have question marks about its future viability once its first season ends.
As of writing there is no word on when the second season of Medalist will air. But what we do have is a new key visual for the second season featuring the main duo and major secondary characters from the first season – Inori Yuitsuka, Tsukasa Akeuraji, Hikaru Kamisaki, Rioh Sonidori, Ryoka Miketa, Suzu Kamoto and Ema Yamaato – in addition to a new announcement trailer available below:
Medalist follows Tsukasa Akeuraji, a frustrated skater, who meets a girl called Inori Yuitsuka who is yearning to enter the world of figure skating / ice-skating. Motivated by Inori’s obsession on the risk, Tsukasa takes on coaching Inori himself. This is the tale of Inori’s talent growing and Tsukasa becoming more confident as a mentor, as together they aim to make Inori a glorious medalist.
The full first season is now available with Japanese and English audio on Disney+.
