Following its showcase during the Future Games Show, Once Upon a Puppet, a puzzle-platformer developed by Flatter Than Earth and published by Daedalic Entertainment, has been confirmed for release on 23 April 2025. The title will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
The newly released trailer (above), which premiered during the event, provides a first look at the game’s whimsical yet dark world. Players are introduced to the unique thread-based mechanics, dynamic puzzles, and theatrical set transformations that shape the game’s tone and gameplay. Central to the narrative are two characters – Nieve, an exiled Stagehand, and Drev, a bound Puppet – who must work together to uncover the secrets of the Understage and return to the grand theatre above.
Once Upon a Puppet is pitched as a narrative-driven adventure that blends handcrafted visuals with dual-character gameplay. Players will be able to control both protagonists, utilising their combined abilities to solve puzzles and traverse shifting environments. Core gameplay mechanics revolve around a magical thread, used to manipulate objects and uncover hidden elements of the world.
A playable demo of Once Upon a Puppet is also currently available via the game’s Steam page.
