During the recent PlayStation State of Play broadcast, 2K and Gearbox Software have announced that Borderlands 4 will launch worldwide on 23 September 2025. The latest instalment in the long-running looter-shooter franchise will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
A new trailer provided a first look at the game, teasing its over-the-top action, unique enemies, and expansive arsenal of weapons. Set on the dangerous new planet of Kairos, Borderlands 4 aims to deliver an expanded looter-shooter experience while (hopefully) retaining the fast-paced combat and humour that has become a flagship of the franchise.
The game introduces enhanced movement mechanics, allowing players to glide, dodge, double jump, and use a fixed-point grapple to traverse the battlefield in new ways. These additions are designed to increase player mobility and provide more opportunities for skillful combat.
