During this morning’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Housemarque revealed Saros, a new third-person action title set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro in 2026. Described as an evolution of the gameplay introduced in Returnal, Saros will blend action-focused combat with a deep narrative set in a mysterious off-world colony.
Players will take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer searching for someone on the planet Carcosa, which is overshadowed by an ominous eclipse. The game aims to deliver an emotional character-driven story, exploring the sacrifices needed to forge a new future. Arjun is portrayed by Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher), who, according to Housemarque, has been a key collaborator in bringing the character to life. More details on the game’s supporting cast and story elements are expected to be revealed in the future.
In terms of gameplay, Saros differentiates itself from Returnal by incorporating permanent resources and progression. While each death will still reshape the world, players will retain upgraded weapons and suit enhancements, allowing them to build strength over time and adapt to the evolving challenges of Carcosa.
A first look at extended gameplay is scheduled for later this year.
