Tickets For New Australian Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar Enter Pre-Sale Today

Tickets for the first leg of the new Australian tour of rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar are now on pre-sale, for those who joined the official waitlist or through one of the other platforms that provide access. If you missed out, don’t fret, as general public sales will commence on Friday, and will likely be the first of several ticket drops over the coming months leading to, and potentially during, the musical’s season at the Sydney Capitol Theatre starting in November.

Following seasons in London and an extensive tour of North America, this production will adapt the Olivier Award-winning reimagined production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s celebrated musical. The Capitol Theatre in Sydney will be the first host venue of a planned national tour, commencing in the same venue where the original Australian production began in 1972.

This season of Jesus Christ Superstar is being produced by John Frost and David Ian for Crossroads Live Australia, in association with Work Light Productions. While casting is still underway so we won’t know who will be portraying whom at this stage, what we do know is the creative team behind this newly reimagined musical. This production, reimagined by London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, is directed by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by Drew McOnie. The creative team includes Tom Scutt (design), Lee Curran (lighting design), Nick Lidster (sound design), and Tom Deering (music supervision). This is, of course, on top of featuring the iconic lyrics and music by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Producer John Frost expressed his excitement about the positive response to the announcement, sharing:

I am thrilled at the overwhelming positive response to the announcement that this award-winning production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s much loved musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is coming to Australia. Australia has deep affection for this show, from the original concept album which was played in every household, to the original production starring Trevor White and Jon English, through to the sold out-arena performances starring John Farnham as Jesus.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has created a fresh and bold new version of a beloved classic which will enthrall both longtime fans of the show and delight those seeing it for the very first time.

John Frost – Producer
