As has been proven time and time again since Bluey first debuted on television screens in 2018, Ludo Studio has certainly identified what makes child-oriented animated series valuable and appreciable by not only their target audience, but also the teen and adult audiences who either watch it with their siblings, their offspring or as is arguably just as common (if not more), watching it for their own enjoyment. While much of the brand’s focus has been on the award-winning television series, they have spanned out into other formats, from merchandise to theatrical productions, and as of today is now in the video game space.
Created by Outright Games in partnership with BBC Studios, Bluey: The Videogame is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC. Players will be able to follow Bluey, the loveable, inexhaustible, Blue Heeler dog, and her younger sister Bingo as they embark on new adventures aided by their dad Bandit (David McCormack) and Mum, Chilli (Melanie Zanetti) as well as the other colourful cast members. Players will join luey and Bingo on their school holidays as they create a special sticker book to record all their latest adventures. Make memories with the Heeler family by unlocking costumes, stickers and locations in episodic gameplay.
Players will be able to visit iconic locations from the series including Bluey’s house, the Playgrounds, the Creek and the Beach, which they aimed to see “faithfully recreated and freely explorable in a video game for the first time ever”. Players can uncover hidden references throughout each location or use the sandbox environment and its interactive items to facilitate free-play, acting out moments from the show through the medium of the video game.
Players can play as Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad in up to four player local co-op fun for the whole family. Jump into mini-games straight out of the series including ‘Keepy Uppy’, ‘Ground is Lava’, ‘Magic Xylophone’ and an all new minigame created for the game, ‘Chattermax Chase’. Accessibility features have been implemented to ensure that fans of all ages can experience the joy of Bluey. Both pre-school or older players can play at their own pace by jumping seamlessly between story quests, activities and exploration. Other features added to the game include the ability to toggle UI on/off, simple written on-screen instructions for early readers, and full voice-overs throughout.
