Following many of the other Digimon Adventure film adaptations focusing on the original group of Digidestined, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning is set to focus primarily from the perspective of the second generation. Fans in North America can look forward to being some of the first to view this animated feature film in November, with Toei Animation and Fathom Events collaborating once again on a two-day theatrical release on 8 & 9 November 2023.
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning is set in the present day, with the chosen children from Digimon Adventure 02 returning for all new adventures. Daisuke Motomiya is now twenty, and he and the rest of the DigiDestined seem to be changing bit by bit in terms of appearance and lifestyle. Then one day, a giant Digitama suddenly appears in the sky over Tokyo Tower. Daisuke and the others encounter a mysterious young man named Lui Ohwada, who informs them that he’s the first ever DigiDestined in the world…
The feature film will include an introduction from the director, Tomohisa Taguchi. PLUS, as an incredibly special bonus, the first 50 guests to arrive at each night’s screening will receive a complimentary Digimon Card Game Tamer Party Pack -THE BEGINNING- ver. 2.0, which includes 3 out of 14 possible cards from the new Digimon Card Game deck commemorating the film (while supplies last, first-come, first served).
Approximately 750 theatres across the United States will play screenings across the two nights, with a screening taking place at 7.00pm each evening. On the 8th, the English dub will be played, while on the 9th, the Japanese language version with English subtitles will be played.
