Sony Interactive Entertainment has provided a more in-depth look into their forthcoming products, the PlayStation Portal remote player and their new wireless audio gear: Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore. This comes following the console developer and game developer’s sneak peeks earlier in the year.
Introducing PlayStation Portal
The PlayStation Portal is designed to be, not a standalone gaming consoles, but instead a solution for gamers in environments where access to the primary TV might be limited. It facilitates remote play by connecting to the PS5 over Wi-Fi. As such, users can seamlessly transition their gameplay from the PS5 console directly to the PlayStation Portal. Are you a parent who has lost prime time TV access due to your child playing video games? Or vice versa, are you sick of being booted off the family TV? This may be a solution for you. The device supports a majority of games installed on the PS5, except for PS VR2 games which require the headset to be worn. Additionally, the PlayStation Portal is equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack to accommodate wired audio solutions.
The PlayStation Portal remote player boasts key features of the acclaimed DualSense wireless controller. This includes the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The gaming experience will unfold on an 8-inch LCD screen that supports 1080p resolution at 60fps.
Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore
Sony Interactive Entertainment has also unveiled the Pulse Elite wireless headset and the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. The Pulse Elite wireless headset boasts lossless audio capabilities, a retractable boom microphone, and an AI-driven noise rejection system that effectively filters out background distractions. In terms of storage, the product includes a charging hanger which doubles up as a storage option.
On the other hand, the Pulse Explore seeks to deliver a superior audio experience complemented by the same objective of lossless audio quality, dual microphones and the same AI-powered noise rejection feature.
PlayStation Link
Sony Interactive Entertainment also shared information on PlayStation Link, PlayStation’s new wireless audio technology which enables the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore to connect directly to the PlayStation Portal. This system boasts low latency, lossless audio and the easy switching between multiple PlayStation Link hosts such as both a PS5 with the USB adapter and PlayStation Portal.
