Haven’t Experienced Theatre’s Longest Running Mystery? The Mousetrap Returns to QPAC in May

It seems like its few weeks in the QPAC Playhouse last year were not enough, with producers of The Mousetrap’s 70th Anniversary Australian Tour confirming they will be back in the Playhouse for a second “short season” starting 26 May 2023, with its final performance concluding 10 June 2023. Tickets start at $69.00, and can be purchased both via the QPAC Website or by calling their box office team on 136 246. You can read my review of the first season HERE.

The Mousetrap follows the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor, who find themselves trapped inside due to a snow storm, and the corpse of a local woman nearby indicates murder is afoot. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. A police detective, arriving on skis, interrogates the suspects: the newlyweds running the house; a spinster with a curious background; an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef; a retired Army major; a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift; and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. When a second murder takes place, tensions and fears escalate.

For 70 years, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap has drawn in millions of patrons into its mystery… and perhaps May-June 2023 is your turn to check in to Monkswell Manor, and uncover the whodunnit for yourself.
