Following the service’s pre-Christmas extended downtime due to server issues, the team behind Skeb has confirmed that from now until 11:59 (JST) on 1 January 2023, all requests sent via the platform will have no fee attached to it. Unlike similar campaigns done by Skeb on the odd occasion, some of the typical restrictions will not be in place – including a requirement for the request to be 3,000 yen or more, and that the Skeb URL is in the commissioners Twitter bio.
Specific campaign details from Skeb (Localised into English) are below:
- From December 26, 2022 at 12:00 noon (Japan Standard Time) until January 1, 2023 at 11:59 pm (JST), we will waive the request fee for any number of requests.
- All public, anonymous, and hidden requests approved during this period are eligible.
- Requests approved outside of this period are not eligible.
- Eligible requests will be displayed with the tag “Request Fee (discount applied): Free” on the detail screen after submission.
- This does not apply to requests involving creators who have received a warning within the past 30 days or clients who have received a warning within the past 60 days, or to requests that are suspected of being self-initiated.
- No individual correspondence (replies as to why the campaign has not been applied) regarding the campaign will be made without exception. Please understand that we will not be able to respond to any individual correspondence regarding the campaign.
While this means no change for clients, for the artists and other creatives on the service, it meant that they would receive the full cut of money earned from requests they take via the service. Therefore, theoretically, they would be more interested in accepting proposals for a slightly lower fee or be keener on opening/accepting commissions in general.
