With the launch of Persona 4 Golden nearing ever closer in Japan, ATLUS have released the opening sequence for their Playstation Vita port of their successful PS2 game Persona 4. Both of the PS2 Persona games brought with it a certain style of music that was implemented into almost everything from battle sequences to opening sequences to general music… Persona 3 had a more hip-hop vibe to it, which suited the mini-city style of region it was set in while Persona 4 had an upbeat pop-inspired soundtrack which didnt really suit the locale but was really enjoyable nevertheless.
I was under the impression they would have gone with the song previewed in THIS TRAILER (Which now seems to be more of a battle soundtrack), but instead they have opted for a calmer song with a completely different style of animation. I think the animation is good but the song itself will most probably pale to the memorable themes of the games original opening and even the anime’s themes.
However… in the end it is only one element in what is shaping up to be a good port with lots of additional content.
