I prefer my sims games grounded in fiction, with any cross-overs with real-life obscured by the creative use of simlish in songs or a recreation of a person as a Sim. There are some clever ways that Electronic Arts and Maxis have done this in the past, such as with The Urbz: Sims in the City, but also several less enticing options such as a collaboration with Katy Perry in The Sims 3. This week, a new partnership has landed in The Sims 4 as part of the recent “free base game update”.
For those who like to doll up their sims in makeup (Something which I have done a grand total of zero times), developers Maxis has partnered up with M·A·C Cosmetics to offer a range of their looks in the Create-a-Sim mode. The collaboration features a variety of looks for a broad spectrum of skin tones and offers styles to suit more daily wear or that formal occasion.
The free update featuring these cosmetics is now live, and will be downloaded next time you boot up The Sims 4’s client.
For the past 20 years, The Sims has strived to empower people to express themselves—both in the game and in real life—and our collaboration with M·A·C Cosmetics further celebrates the diversity and creativity of our amazing community. Players can experiment with these new makeup looks from M·A·C to create Sims that are unique and redefine their own rules of beauty.

General Manager and Executive Producer of The Sims
As a black makeup artist, it’s especially important that the looks work for Simmers of all skin tones. It’s been so much fun to digitally recreate all of my IRL makeup inspirations from endless photo shoots, master classes, pop culture, and hundreds of Fashion Weeks. With so many of us around the world staying home, our collaboration will inspire Simmers to become makeup artists expressing themselves in a way the game has never offered before. I can’t wait to see Simmers’ creations both in-game and IRL as well
