While you have long-time big-names in the racing genre of video games such as the Gran Turismo series on the PlayStation consoles and the Forza franchise on the Xbox platforms, there are a few gems when it comes to cross-platform offerings. One of these is the Project Cars series from developer Slightly Mad Studios and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment. First hitting store shelves in 2015 with a sequel in 2017; both titles have received warm enthusiasm from critics and fans alike. While this is a game I would have expected to be made available on next-generation platforms, it has recently been confirmed that Project Cars 3 is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms; with plans to release it sometime in 2020.
Bandai Namco Entertainment has boasted that the game features “over 200 elite-brand road and race-cars, and over 140 global circuits complete with 24-hour cycles and evocative all-4-season, all-weather racing“. New to the series will be a Career Mode, which will see players build upon their stable of machinery. Drivers will need to race hard to upgrade their cars with authentic performance parts that realistically affect handling and power as they battle their way up to the top of the racing world. Once you have this assortment of cars, you can also take advantage of new customisation options for them, including including wheels, tyres, rims, and more intimate personalisation options.
It’s been quite a journey watching the Project CARS franchise go from strength to strength these last five years, and we’re delighted to finally lift the wrap on Project CARS 3.
While realism and authenticity continue to be at the core of the franchise, we’ve added a host of new options to ensure that Project CARS 3 is also the most accessible game in the franchise’s history.
