Through many nostalgia-driven cartoon projects and other media franchises such as the video game Cuphead, older styles of animation have received a renewed level of interest around the world. Evoking much charm from its visuals to the choice of music, The Pokemon Company Japan has today released the below four-minute slapstick comedy animation, or PokeToon, titled Zuruggu and Mimikkyu: Chase the Beans (Localised, Scraggy and Mimikyu: Chase the Beans).
Brimming with charm, this episode follows a Scraggy who begins following a trail of Poke-Mame (Poké Beans), leading them to a train setting where they encounter the source of them – a Mimikyu. From there, hilarity and chaos ensue. It is a short, but very fun watch – especially those who are aware of Mimikyu’s nature.
This animation was developed for the Japanese Pokemon Kids TV Youtube channel, which produces Pokemon-related content for a younger audience. This is the first video published on this channel in the ‘PokeToon’ or ‘Zuruggu and Mimikkyu’ series, and here’s hoping for more in the future! Another example of content on the channel, this time a Scorbunny Dancing video utilising 3D animation, can be found below:
