Sekai Project Partner with KEY / VisualArts for Rewrite+ Crowdfunding Campaign 1

Back in 2014, Sekai Project launched a crowdfunding campaign for an English localised release of KEY / VisualArt’s iconic visual novel Clannad, for which they were successful and managed to raise $541,161 from 5,819 backers. More recently, select visual novels such as Little Busters!, Tomoyo After ~It’s a Wonderful Life~ and Harmonia have all been published directly by VisualArts. But going back to the Kickstarter platform, Sekai Project and VisualArt’s are once again partnering up to raise money for an English release of the 2016 visual novel Rewrite+ – aiming to raise $180,000 USD ($AU 262,314).

The campaign as of writing has raised almost 50% of its goal, with 1,002 backers pledging $89,233.50 USD ($AU 130,040) of its target – and with 25 days remaining is well on track to reaching its target. According to Sekai Project, this campaign will cover both Rewrite+ and its fan disc Rewrite Harvest Festa!. Providing some insight into how they have reached their crowdfunding target, at the moment over $40,000 USD has been spent on translation and editing to date, while additional costs has gone towards secondary voice licensing fees, licensing costs to the parent company and project management/programming costs. This would be in addition to the cost of delivering physical editions among other things.

So how much do you need to pledge? If you are uncertain what you wish to pledge in the next 25 days but know you would wish to support the visual novel at some point, you can contribute $1 and get BackerKit access where you can pledge towards at least select rewards past the crowdfunding period.

For a digital copy of both visual novels, you will need to spend $40 which gets you a digital key, $50 which also gets you a digital copy of the 11 track arrange album “Selene”, $60 which adds the “Rewrite of the Life” official guidebook” or $80 which will include a digital copy of the 42-page Occult Research Club Report booklet.

If you are after a physical copy of Rewrite+ and Rewrite Harvest Festa!, you can pledge $50 for the standard Physical Edition which includes none of the digital bonuses mentioned above. Pledging $90 will earn you the standard physical edition with the digital rewards, while pledging $130 will give you a limited edition with physical copies of the digital bonuses. From there, you can pledge more for a few additional psychical goodies including a B2 tapestry, shikishi and t-shirt.
