A small frog trying to get home is now making the jump from PC to handheld and mobile. Walk The Frog, a sticky note puzzle adventure from German indie developer Walk The Frog, released today on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, in partnership with Bright Gambit.
The game follows Froggo, who is racing to reach his best friend Buddy in time for the Froggapalooza festival. His world has been scrambled, however, and it falls to the player to put it back in order. Each part of the world is drawn on a sticky note, and solving puzzles involves dragging, dropping and rearranging those notes to form paths and get Froggo past obstacles.
That drag-and-drop approach is the reason the developers see the new platforms as a good fit. On iOS and Android, the notes are moved around with touch controls, while Nintendo Switch players guide Froggo with the console. The game is designed around a relaxed pace, with no timers or penalties, and individual puzzles can be completed in a short session or played through over a longer sitting.
The adventure spans 18 levels split across three chapters, taking Froggo through forests, a busy insect city, and fields and meadows. The hand-drawn world is populated by animal characters Froggo meets along the way, with conversations and friendships forming part of a story centred on friendship and finding the way home.
