After an unexpected two-day wait, Brocap Studio’s sheepdog adventure Hubert is now available on Steam. The launch was briefly held up by Steam’s build review process, pushing the release back slightly from its planned date.
The Brocap Studio team acknowledged the delay and thanked players for their patience and support in getting the game out:
The past few days haven’t gone quite as planned, and we know you’ve been waiting to get your paws on the game. We’re so grateful to everyone who supported us along the way. It’s been a long journey getting this little shepherd dog out into the world, and we can’t wait for you all to meet him.
Hubert himself is a fluffy shepherd dog with plenty of confidence and a habit of finding trouble. The game is played entirely from his perspective, with the world presented through movement, scent, instinct and curiosity.
He is joined by Lily, a quick-witted kid who has talked the valley’s grumpiest farmer into hiring the pair of them. Their job is to herd dozens of unruly sheep across the pastures, which proves harder than it sounds when the sheep are easily distracted and the farmer has no patience to spare.
There is more to the story than farm work, though. Further north lies an uncharted wilderness that grows quieter and stranger the further Hubert travels. Something is waiting out there, and it is not only a threat but also a call that Hubert seems to understand in ways he cannot quite explain. Brocap Studio describes the result as a story about friendship, bravery and barking at sheep.
A PlayStation 5 version is on the way, with more details on its release expected soon.
