A castle that gets up and walks is at the centre of Castlebound, the co-op action platformer from Ogre Pixel, which now has a release date. The game launches on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on Wednesday, 11 November 2026. The game was previously crowdfunded, reaching its full funding goal on Kickstarter within four hours of the campaign going live.
Players lead Lenora, a skilled archer, and her grandfather Vargus after they bring a bewitched castle to life as a walking fortress. From there, the job is to protect it from waves of forest creatures, ghosts, giant trolls and dragons. Castlebound can be played alone or with up to four players in co-op, and the team has four ways to fight back: Lenora’s arrows, Vargus’ magic, Garrik’s knightly attacks and Quinn’s slingshot.
Each battle combines action platforming with roguelike progression, as players jump, dodge and strike to hold the line while picking up upgrades along the way. When the party is defeated, Soul Coins can be spent inside the castle to upgrade the heroes and unlock new abilities, improving their chances on the next attempt.
The journey takes players through mythical forests, ghostly graveyards, dry deserts and scorching volcanoes. Each location is presented in a hand-crafted 2D, arts and crafts style inspired by classic storybook adventures and cartoons.
Steve Durán, Director and Designer at Ogre Pixel, thanked the community behind the Kickstarter and outlined the ideas that shaped the game:
We’re incredibly grateful to our community, who helped fully fund Castlebound on Kickstarter within four hours of the campaign launch. We blended tower-defense and roguelite combat into a colorfully stunning adventure reminiscent of pop-up books that invite players to challenge themselves or others at various skill levels.
