PQube, Secret Level Studios and Twin Hearts have announced that Kitaria Fables 2 will have a closed beta on PC via Steam from 7 to 21 September 2026, giving selected players their first opportunity to try the upcoming adventure before its full release. Registrations for the closed beta are now open and will close on 4 September 2026. Successful applicants will receive access to a special version of the game containing more than half of Alice and Dusty’s journey across the Arkadera Peninsula, with feedback from participants set to be used to help refine the game ahead of launch.
A new Story Trailer has also been released alongside the closed beta announcement, introducing the setting and characters players will encounter during their journey. The sequel takes place across the Arkadera Peninsula, a remote region beyond the Endless Ocean that once represented the western edge of the Empire. As the Empire’s influence faded, its former outposts were gradually reclaimed by nature, leaving the remaining population gathered within the fortified Whitewall Town.
The story follows Royal Army Pathfinder Alice Skylar and local guide Dusty Tuftkin, who join the Royal Academy Expedition Team on a mission to reopen Whitewall Town’s errand house, explore the surrounding peninsula and restore its abandoned outposts. As the expedition progresses farther north, the group begins hearing rumours of a mysterious figure somewhere within the wilderness.
Players will be able to explore several environments across Arkadera, including forests, marshes, highlands and snow covered mountains, while repairing outposts found throughout the region. The entire story will support both local and online co-op, allowing two players to control Alice and Dusty simultaneously and tackle the adventure together.
Alice and Dusty each feature their own playstyle, skill tree and storyline, with combat built around special attacks, elemental spells and ultimate abilities. Skill points collected during the adventure can be spent to expand each character’s available abilities. Beyond combat and exploration, players will be able to complete side quests for members of the Royal Academy Expedition Team and other residents, visit remote settlements and collect rewards.
Crafting will also play a role, with materials gathered in the wilderness used by Whitewall Town’s artisans to create and upgrade equipment, produce potions and prepare food. Farming returns as another part of the adventure, with players helping Aunt Kiki restore her farmstead. Rare seeds can be discovered and planted to grow crops, while additional facilities can be developed to generate income.
Kitaria Fables 2 is scheduled to launch digitally in Spring 2027 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
