Publisher Nippon Ichi Software America has released Brigandine Abyss on multiple platforms – including the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam. The strategy RPG is a new entry in the Brigandine series, developed by Happinet, featuring an original world and story designed to be accessible without knowledge of previous games.
Hundreds of years before the game’s events, the Abyssloa Empire was defeated through the power of the arcane Brigandine. With the empire now returning, players must manage their forces, command monsters and resist its efforts to conquer the world. The main story offers six separate campaigns, each presenting another perspective on the conflict and its underlying events. Mission Mode provides an alternative experience, allowing players to control one of 24 factions. Each faction has its own victory conditions, creating different strategic objectives across campaigns.
Turns are divided into three phases. During the Organization Phase, players manage troops and resources. The Attack Phase is used to issue orders against enemy strongholds, while battles occur during the Invasion Phase. Combat retains the series’ hexagonal grid system, requiring players to consider unit skills, elemental attributes, troop positioning and the continued development of their armies. Players must also manage resources and expand their influence while forming bonds with monsters capable of supporting their forces in battle. Both the story campaigns and Mission Mode offer adjustable approaches for players seeking different levels of tactical challenge.
